Template Configuration

Now, it’s time to add your template. One of the main benefits of using Routines is the ability to add more than one Template to your Mambo Merge component. To add your template, you’ll choose one of the three options in the top right corner: Upload a Template at the Time of the Merge, Upload Template and Add Template.

Adding a Template Label

Upload a Template at the Time of the Merge

Selecting this option enables users to upload their template from their local computer at the time of the merge, along with all the other benefits of using Routines.

Note: When the checkbox is selected, it limits the page to only one Template label. You can not add a template labels to your routine if you want to use Upload a Template at the Time of the Merge

Upload Template

Click Upload Template to upload a DOCX, PPTX or XLSX template file from your local computer.

Add Template

To add a template already saved to your Salesforce org, Click Add Template. It will open a Files tab, where you can search through Recent, Libraries and more to locate your file.

Note: You can preview the Template here to check the Files is correct.

A Template Label

After choosing your Template, a Template Label will appear. With the Template Label, you can customize details on template name in the component, the name of your merged document, where your merged documnet will save.

A Template Label with Merge types for Multiple Record Merge

Merge Type - Choose from four options on how to merge documents for more than one record:

  • One Document per Record - Every record has a document merged for it.
  • Single Documnet(One Record per Page) - A single document with a page generated for each record.
  • Single Document(Multiple Records per Page) - Single Document with a limit of how many records are generated on each page. It will replicate pages till all records are generated. (Great for Labels)
  • Output Merge Data - Creates a CSV or XLSX documnet with merge field names on top and rows filled with each records’ data .

Note: Merge Type is only shown when you have selected one of the multiple records options on the Records Selection page.

Label - The name of the template choice the User will see on the Mambo Merge Component.

Template File - This is the Document File of your Template. You can also preview your Template, by clicking the Blue Preview link.

Destinatiion - This is where you want the Merge Document to save in relation to the record that is merging.

  • Single Record & Multiple Records Destinations
    • Attach to Record - Save the generated document to the record merged from
    • Save to Library - Save to a Library of your choice
    • Attach to a Specified Record - Save to a record with provided record ID
    • Download Immediately - Download after merge to local computer
    • Attach to Each Record - Every generated document is saved to its corresponding record
    • Save to Library (Multiple Files) - Every individual document is saved to an assigned Library
    • Save to Library (Single Zip) - All Files are saved in a zip and saved to an assigned Library (Great option for large Batches of documents)
    • Attach to a Specified Record (Multiple Files) - Every individual document is saved to a specific record with its provided record ID
    • Attach to a Specified Record (Single Zip) - All Files are saved in a zip and saved to a specific record with its provided record ID
    • Attach to a Current Record (Multiple Files) - Every individual document is saved to the Current Record the component is present on
    • Attach to a Current Record (Single Zip) - All Files are saved in a zip and saved to the Current Record the component is present on
    • Attach to a Related Record* - All individual files are saved to record that is selected from Lookup Field
    • Download as Zip - Download Immediately a zip file of all generated documnets.

Generated File Name - Mambo Merge automatically sets the Generated File Name to match the Template File name. However, you can customize the name of your merged document here. What’s even more great about this is, merge fields can be used here. For Single Record and One Document per Record merges you can utilize any merge fields. With the other Multiple Record Merges, you are only able to use {{ThisYear()}}, {{Today()}} and {{Now()}} merge functions.

Convert to PDF - Select this option if you want to convert your generated document into a PDF file.

  • Show Preview - Before saving the document, users are presented with a preview to review and confirm their save.
